THE INVALIDES GUIDED TOUR
The world of the army from the Middle Ages to the 19th century
2h
1 to 20 maximum
This tour begins with the history of the Invalides, created in 1670 by King Louis the XIV to house soldiers wounded in battle. Then we will move on to the treasures of the armor and ancient weapons collection (3rd largest in the world): jousting and tournament armor used from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, and the majestic armor of the kings of France.
We'll then move on to the Empire rooms, where we'll discover the Napoleonic time through portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Emperor's personal objects: his spyglass, his pistols, his stuffed Vizier horse, his bicorne, his frock coat and his deathbed.
The military tour ends at the church of Dôme, a military necropolis housing the body of Napoleon Bonaparte in a sarcophagus, the bodies of two Napoleon brothers, and the remains of the great military engineer Vauban...
