Inaugurated in 1926, the Great Mosque of Paris was born of the idea of building a Muslim institution in Paris. The idea dates back to the mid-19th century, with the aim of thanking Muslims who had fought for France in the First World War. Being France's oldest mosque, its representative role has become essential to the inclusion of Islam among France's religions.
With its Moorish architecture and magnificent mosaics, the Great Mosque of Paris includes a religious section with a 108-foot minaret, a large patio with a removable roof, a prayer room, a library... and a magnificent garden of Eden with fountains, palm trees and lush vegetation, where a peaceful atmosphere reigns.
Let yourself be tempted by a change of scenery in the heart of Paris. And why not end your visit in their tearoom, where you can taste their delicious pastries.
